Champian Fulton Quartet

Saturday, January 18, 2020, 8 PM at the Vermont Jazz Center

Award-winning singer and pianist Champian Fulton, seems to be always on tour.

She will soon perform in Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, Spain, California, Chicago…and now – Vermont!

Fulton grew up around jazz. Her father ran the Clark Terry Summer Jazz Workshop. She was surrounded by music and hung out with legendary players within Clark Terry’s circle.

As a young girl, she learned repertoire and performed with Louis Hayes, Lou Donaldson, Frank Wess, but it was Clark Terry who mentored her in the art of performance and music business.

She’s released nine records as leader and played festivals and venues worldwide, including a two-year residency at New York’s Birdland.

Fulton is a master of the familiar and obscure repertoire from the Great American Songbook.

Her awards include:

Rookie of the Year, The Village Voice, 2007

Top Ten Jazz Album listing – Champian Sings and Swings, New York Observer, 2013

Rising Star – Female Vocalist, Critics’ Poll, Down Beatmagazine,2014
