Friday, Sept. 6
SOLD OUT
Tanglewood — Linde Center for Music and Learning
The festivities commence with a ticketed concert on Friday evening at Tanglewood’s Linde Center for Music and Learning. Renowned pianist Ted Rosenthal brings an all-star sextet to the Linde Center to present a unique Bernstein-inspired bop program (or is that a bop-inspired Bernstein program?). Ted’s group will perform "Bernstein & Bop: A Saxophone Colossus." The repertoire features Ted’s arrangements of classic Leonard Bernstein pieces intertwined with jazz standards. Berkshires — and world-wide — jazz followers know Ted Rosenthal as one the leading jazz pianist/composers of his generation. He will be joined by top musicians from New York City, including Gary Smulyan (baritone saxophone), Scott Robinson (tenor saxophone), Erena Terakubo (alto saxophone), Noriko Ueda (bass), and Dennis Mackrel (drums).
Wanda Houston & The Resonance Trio will perform a special opening set to begin the evening. Wanda is a staple of the music community in the Berkshires, and her voice has been featured at leading venues both locally and around the world. She will be joined by Eugene Uman (piano) and Tarik Shah (bass).
Saturday, Sept. 7
Downtown Lenox — FREE!
On Saturday, the celebration continues throughout the downtown Lenox cultural district, including three concerts at Lilac Park on Main Street from 3 to 7 PM and various pop-up performances throughout the day. These Saturday performances are free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring a picnic and lawn chairs to enjoy the afternoon. Additional Saturday evening performances at local restaurants will be announced via social media.
For the latest updates and event details, visit Milltown’s Lenox Jazz Stroll webpage and follow the events on their Instagram and Facebook pages.
