Bert Wilson was born in 1939. At 4 he developed polio which nearly killed him. Taking up the clarinet saved his life by helping develop his lungs. Since then his 73 years were all about creative music both as multi reed player (soprano, alto, tenor, clarinet and bass clarinet) and composer. His book is a challenging rich tapestry of creative writing in the deepest of jazz traditions. Within the post-bop jazz world he is revered by many of best in the business. Bert passed away in 2013.

Wilson’s singular sound will be shared by legendary drummer Bob Meyer who played with Wilson for several years in his later career. Bob is honored to carry on Wilson’s legacy and joined by three partners in his Circular Jazz Quartet. Steve Frieder on soprano, alto and tenor saxes, Luke Franco on guitar and Bryan Copeland on bass violin. Meyer, who arranged the music, will be on drums.

Bob Meyer performed drums on Joe Lovano’s Blue Note release and group, Viva Caruso.
