The Bousquet Jazz Festival
Sat., Aug. 19, 2023, at Pittsfield’s historic ski area
Hillside performances, 4-8pm,
“Apres jazz jazz” in the Lift Bistropub, 8:30-10pm.
The popular quintet The Lucky 5 kicks-off the second annual Bousquet Jazz Festival at 4pm. The hard-swinging jazz band blends 30’s and 40’s style swing with gypsy and Parisian flavors to create a unique blend of music that stands by itself. Combining originals and creative reworks of old standards, The Lucky 5 continues to be a favorite among music lovers young and old alike. Award-winning saxophone maven Claire Daly returns to the Berkshires for her first appearance since pre-COVID days, starting at 5:30pm. The Jazz Journalist Association’s three-time Baritone Saxophonist of the Year will be previewing her latest recording in the runup to a CD release concert at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola shortly after the Bousquet event. Dominique Eade closes out the outdoor portion of the festival with a 7pm set of her unique vocal stylings. Vocalist, composer and improviser Eade blends musical virtuosity with a songwriter’s straightforward emotional sensibility, creating music that has garnered critical acclaim, inspired audiences, and served as a creative signpost for generations of singers.
As the mid-August sun sets on the Berkshire hillside, music moves indoors to The Lift Bistropub, where pianist Benny “Fingers” Kohn holds sway with his trio, 8:30-10pm.
Bousquet is located at 101 Dan Fox Drive, Pittsfield, Mass. Guests are invited to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. All items consumed on-premises must be purchased there; food and beverage services will be available. Tickets are available at https://bousquetmountain.com/event/bousquet-mountain-jazz-festival/
